Repair & Rebuild of a LeBlond Regal Lathe
The project highlighted here was for the rebuild and repair of a LeBlond Regal Manual Lathe 20×60 used in the machine tool industry. This unit had many years of production usage and then was in storage were corrosion attacked the metal parts.
The lathe was taken apart and completely realigned. The compound, cross slide, and carriage were hand scraped by expert technicians and brought back to factory tolerances of ± 0.0005″.
The rails were removed, ground, and made parallel. Additionally, the head stock was rebuilt and the spindle bearings were replaced.
Finished in a durable gray paint, the unit was subject to comprehensive operation and functional testing to verify that it operated to factory specs, ensuring many more years of service.
At Dan’s we specialize in bringing new life to older equipment; a project such as this requires only 6 to 8 weeks to compete, and is an economical alternative to the capital purchase of a new machine.
