Here at Dan’s Machine Tool, we believe that the quality of our service to our clients sets us apart. We cannot deny, however, that in today’s machine repair industry, the fact that we can repair your machine in and of itself sets us apart.

It’s a changing landscape as seasoned repair technicians often retire without passing their trade on to the next generation. We find that a majority of high school or trade school machinist programs only teach the operation of machines, not their repair. This is a huge gap in knowledge. It is something that we are aware of at both Dan’s Machine Tool and Wheeler Machinery Sales, actively seeking to recruit new-to-the workforce talent to train up in order to shore up the machine industry as a whole.

What does this mean, though? Being able to repair, not just replace a machine is vital. There is just no other way to put it. As our Service Manager, Rick McGuire, said ,”If the machine ain’t running, you ain’t working”. The reverberations can be massive in terms of delays of production or even outright output. The effects of not being able to repair or rebuild a machine impact businesses, the health of the economy, and the daily lives of individuals, whether people are aware of the impact or not.

Repairing and rebuilding is also necessary because some machines are no longer made to the standard that they once were. Whether it’s a brand that has gone out of business or a specific model or tool that is no longer made but still needed in practice, new machines just aren’t always up to the task. Repair brings life and longevity to these used and much-respected machines.

So, what can be done? Well, for your machines and business, be sure to schedule preventative maintenance. It will help you stay ahead of the crowd. For our part, we will always be upfront and honest with you about your repair or rebuild project. We are also doing what we can to expand and support the repair industry. When you choose to repair and rebuild instead of replacing, you are doing the same.
